Thomas Lombe Taylor
Born in 1802, Thomas Lombe Taylor was the son of Meadows Taylor, a lawyer. His father had inherited a law business and a good deal of property from Phillip Meadows, his unmarried uncle, who had strong family links with the elite of Norwich stretching back to the 1660s.
On his father’s death, Thomas went into the family law business. However his career in the law was shorted lived and he devoted himself to his 350 acre farm at Starston Place, employing a steward and 20 labourers. He was to live and farm in Starston for the rest of his life, and indeed descendants of his family still live there as well as in Diss.
